Scalecoat Flattening Additive gives modelers full control over the final sheen of their paint finish. Designed for use with Scalecoat I, Scalecoat II, and other solvent-based hobby paints, this additive lets you easily turn glossy finishes into smooth satin or dead-flat surfaces without changing color or adhesion. Mix directly into your paint before airbrushing.

Mixing Ratios For Scalecoat Paint:

Satin: 1 Part Flattening Additive to 4 Parts Paint

Flat: 1 Part Flattening Additive to 2 Parts Paint

Scalecoat Flattening Additive can also be used with other solvent-based hobby paints beyond the Scalecoat line. Users should test and adjust their own mixing ratios to achieve the desired level of sheen, as different paint systems may react differently. By varying the ratio of paint to additive, modelers can fine-tune finishes anywhere from semi-gloss to ultra-flat.

Note: Overuse of Flattening Additive may lead to reduced adhesion or a chalky appearance—if this occurs, simply reduce the amount of additive in your mix.
